Dr. Michael Gould

Dr. Gould has a busy gastroenterology and hepatology practice in Vaughan and is a staff gastroenterologist at the Etobicoke Campus of the William Osler Health System, where he is currently Endoscopy Director. He is Medical Director of Vaughan Endoscopy Clinic and Vice President of the Toronto Digestive Disease Associates clinical research group. He is a past Chief of Medicine of the William Osler Health System, a past President and one of the founders of the Ontario Association of Gastroenterology, and currently sits on its board. He was Cancer Care Ontario Endoscopy Lead from 2011 to 2014, is a faculty member of the CAG Skills Enhancement in Endoscopy programme, and is a recognised leader in endoscopic quality.
Dr. David Ford
MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Ford graduated from McMaster University in 1995, completed his Internal Medicine qualification in 1998 and three years of gastroenterology training immediately after. He holds a BSc in co-op biochemistry from the University of Waterloo and an MSc in immunology from Western. A former Site Chief of Gastroenterology at the William Osler Health System, he remains a full-time gastroenterologist there and is a primary investigator on numerous clinical trials at Toronto Digestive Disease Associates. His Cancer Care Ontario endoscopy quality indicators have shown him to be consistently above average for a gastroenterologist in Ontario. His outpatient clinic is next door to Vaughan Endoscopy Clinic.
Dr. William Appell
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Appell graduated from the University of Toronto medical school in 1976 and received his fellowships in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology in 1981. He has been on staff as a gastroenterologist at Michael Garron Hospital, formerly Toronto East General Hospital, since that time. He is a previous Chief of Medicine, Head of the Division of Gastroenterology, and Director of the Endoscopy Unit at that hospital.
Dr. Sehem Ghazala

Dr. Ghazala is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist. He received his Internal Medicine training at the University of Arizona and completed a Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at Tulane University. After serving as a staff gastroenterologist at Catholic Health in Buffalo, he returned to Ontario, and holds active staff privileges at Royal Victoria Hospital and Georgian Bay General Hospital. He has a particular interest in stomach disease, inflammatory bowel disease and colon disease.
Dr. Susan Greenbloom
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Greenbloom graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto and completed her Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology specialisation there as well. She has been practising as a gastroenterologist since 1995 and is involved with clinical research studies at Toronto Digestive Disease Associates.
Dr. David Kreaden
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Kreaden graduated from the University of Toronto medical school in 1973 and completed fellowship training in internal medicine and gastroenterology in 1977. He was appointed to the department of internal medicine at Northwestern Hospital, where he established the division of gastroenterology and served as chief until the hospital merged into Humber River Regional Hospital. He has been a staff gastroenterologist at Humber River since 1998. Alongside luminal gastroenterology and liver disease, he has an interest in swallowing disorders and heads the motility department at Humber River Hospital.
Dr. Eric Leong
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Leong graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a BA in molecular biology and French literature in 1989, obtained his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1993 and completed his Internal Medicine residency there. During his Chief Medical Residency and while working as a Clinical Assistant in Gastroenterology at Toronto Western and Toronto General Hospitals, his research focused on bone density and depression in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis. He specialised in Gastroenterology and Hepatology during a fellowship at Stanford University and received training in ERCP and EUS. He is active staff at Humber River Regional Hospital and a research investigator with Toronto Digestive Disease Associates.
Dr. Michael J. Ostro
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Ostro graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto in 1979 and completed his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology residencies there. He undertook a research fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease and acid-suppression therapy. He is currently active staff as a gastroenterologist at The Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, is a past Director of the Credit Valley Digestive Disease Group, and is a current research investigator with Toronto Digestive Disease Associates.
Dr. Theadore Ptak
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Ptak graduated from medical school at the University of Ottawa in 1963 and in Internal Medicine there in 1969. He is a past president of the Ontario Association of Gastroenterology, from 2004 to 2006, and a founding member and president of the Toronto Digestive Disease Associates research group. He is a former Chief of Medicine at York Finch General Hospital and Humber River Regional Hospital, and is currently Head of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at Humber River Regional Hospital. He has a special interest in therapeutic ERCP, hepatology and endoscopic ultrasound, and received a Distinguished Service Award from the Ontario Association of Gastroenterology in recognition of his research and clinical practice.
Dr. Lee Roth
MD, MSc, FRCPC
Dr. Roth is a gastroenterologist at William Osler Health System, Etobicoke General Hospital, with an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. He practises in a wide variety of clinical settings, both hospital-based and out-of-hospital. He completed medical school, internal medicine training and his gastroenterology fellowship at Western University, after which he obtained a Master’s in clinical epidemiology at McMaster University.
Dr. Rajiv Sethi
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Sethi completed his undergraduate studies and obtained his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1992. After practising as a family doctor in Toronto, he completed specialty training in Internal Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center in New York in 2001 and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas in 2004. He has been on staff at Toronto East General Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, and joined the William Osler Health Centre in 2008, where he is currently at the Etobicoke site. He is an investigator in clinical research trials with Toronto Digestive Disease Associates.
Dr. Jonathon Springer
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Springer graduated from medical school in 1994 and completed his Internal Medicine training in 1998 and Gastroenterology specialist training in 1999 at the University of Toronto. He completed a therapeutic endoscopy fellowship in Calgary in 1999 and is currently chief of gastroenterology and chair of the endoscopy committee at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. He is a community representative on the University of Toronto gastroenterology education training committee, teaches endoscopy to gastroenterology residents, and is an investigator in clinical research trials with Toronto Digestive Disease Associates.
