Work out your prep times
Tell us when your procedure is and which preparation you were given. We will turn the clinic’s instructions into exact times for your appointment, and can put reminders in your phone.
Things people get caught out by
- You cannot drive yourself home. You must not drive for 12 hours after sedation. If you plan to take a taxi, a responsible adult has to come with you, otherwise the procedure is cancelled or done without sedation.
- Missing your appointment costs $150. The fee applies if you give less than 72 hours notice.
- Most morning medications are fine, taken with a sip of water, but not diabetic pills, blood thinners or iron. Bring a list of everything you take, or the actual bottles.
- Tylenol yes, aspirin no. Take Gravol if the prep makes you nauseous.
- No red, purple or orange drinks. They stain the bowel lining and can be mistaken for blood.
- Leave jewellery at home, skip perfume and cologne, wear comfortable clothes and no high heels, since you may be unsteady afterwards.
